The laser that set the standard for ablative skin resurfacing, the MicroLaserPeel creates smoother, tighter and more youthful-looking skin by precisely and uniformly removing, or “ablating,” the outermost layers of the epidermis (skin). Recovery time is rapid and redness clears faster than with previous ablative lasers used for these purposes. The procedure is tailored to the patient’s skin characteristics and can correct such skin conditions as wrinkles, scars, acne scars and pigmentary problems.

How does MicroLaser Peel work?

An Erbium laser removes the dull, damaged outer layers of your skin, which are replaced by newer, healthier and brighter skin. The laser energy also stimulates the repair and growth of collagen, which helps to fill wrinkle lines and give your skin a softer, more supple and tighter feel.

What results can I expect from MicroLaser Peel?

After healing from the procedure, you will notice that your skin is smoother and tighter. Skin imperfections, such as wrinkles, scars, pigmentation problems and texture irregularities, will be diminished.

What is recovery like?

The healing process can take two to four days or longer, depending on the depth of the laser treatment. Right after the treatment you will feel hot, like you have a bad sunburn, and the following day your skin will have slight sloughing and itchiness. Your physician will direct you to use an ointment for a couple days to keep air from your skin while the outer layer regrows. You will be given antibiotic and antiviral medications to prevent infection during the immediate healing phase, during which time we would advise only limited activities. Once the skin re-epithelializes (two to four days) you can apply sunscreen or makeup and resume normal activities. Redness may linger for up to two weeks but generally is mild and easily concealed. Recovery is improved and will be faster with an appropriate home skin-care regimen.
